Who We Are...

Spring Creek is first and foremost a place of grace. This statement has served as the guiding light for Spring Creek since its inception. Thus, “a place of grace” is more than a cute slogan or trite cliché to us. “A place of grace” cuts at the very heart of our community. Grace is our core identity, more central to our DNA than our worship style, ministry programs, or theological stances. Grace pervades our history as a church and our plans for the future. Since we are a place of grace, we welcome one and all into our fellowship. Since we are a place of grace, our unity is founded on our common commitment to Jesus, not to narrow ideologies or exclusive theologies. Since we are a place of grace, we understand faith as a long journey on which we will need forgiveness, correction, and more than a few friends. So we hope you will journey with us as we celebrate, grow in, and share God’s grace.

History of Spring Creek

Spring Creek’s history is fairly short, only reaching back to 1981, but we believe that our history is a rich history. In 1981, Trinity Baptist Church in downtown Oklahoma City saw the need to establish a satellite campus in “far northwest Oklahoma City” because of the recent growth and expansion in that part of the city. On September 13, 1981, 100 people gathered for worship at “Trinity North.” These first gatherings were held in a local elementary school.

Over time, however, the vision evolved from a satellite campus of Trinity to a mission church all its own. On May 1, 1983, ground was broken for the current facilities located at 11701 N. MacArthur in Oklahoma City. In April, 1984, the name Spring Creek Mission was chosen. Services were held in the new building on Father’s Day, June 17, 1984. On January 6, 1985, Spring Creek Baptist Church was constituted with the pastor, Steve Graham, preaching the special message.

Since those early days, Spring Creek has attempted to share the love of Jesus with the surrounding community and the world. Through the leadership of its pastors, Dr. Steven Graham and Dr. Brian Brewer, the church continued towards the vision first espoused by the members of Trinity. In the coming years, we hope to continue in the rich tradition begun by our forebearers. As we remember our past, we also hear the call of God to be a place of grace in the future. Of course, we welcome you to join us as we walk this path.
